Meet Department Chair Kevin Furtado 

Hello, my name is Kevin Furtado. I am the Physical Education Department Chair and teacher for Pinecrest Academy.  In addition to my physical education duties, I am the head coach for girls varsity basketball.  I have been teaching physical education for eighteen years. I have taught at various private schools for the past eighteen years. I was the Physical Education Department Chair for Amelia Academy in Amelia, Virginia as well as Athletic Director and head coach for girls basketball, girls softball, and boys basketball. At Nathanael Greene Academy, I was the Department Head for Physical Education for grades K-8, as well as head coach for girls softball and girls basketball. I was also the physical education teacher and head coach for girls and boys basketball for LaGrange Academy, Augusta Preparatory Day School, and Tattnall Square Academy before I arrived here at Pinecrest Academy.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1984 when my family was transferred to Atlanta.  I attended the University of Georgia in 1985 and received my Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education in 1989.
