Pinecrest was established in 1993 as a private Catholic school. Our mission is to provide the highest quality Catholic education and to foster integrally formed Christian leaders. This mission is fulfilled as Pinecrest Academy students graduate as strong Christian leaders, convinced of the truth, and prepared and committed to transforming society where Christian values are taught, embraced and put into practice. Pinecrest Academy implements the Integral Formation method of education developed by the Legionaries of Christ, which focuses on forming all dimensions of the person: intellectual, spiritual, human, and apostolic.
Overview
Pinecrest Academy serves grades pre-kindergarten through high school. Our school maintains the highest academic standards, offers recreational and varsity athletics, advanced placement and honor classes, foreign language choices, fine arts programs, clubs, and opportunities to serve the community.
Our Approach
To help students develop a solid foundation based on character, faith, social responsibility, problem-solving, and critical thinking; to build confidence through athletics, public speaking, performing, mentoring, and to learn to share through service to the community and each other.
Accreditation
Pinecrest Academy is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), and the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC). We are also affiliated with the following associations: SACS, SAIS, AAAIS, GISA, NCEA, NAIS, and NCE.
Gender-Specific Education
International studies and Catholic tradition affirm the advantage of single-sex education. This environment best serves the learning styles of each gender. Pinecrest educates boys and girls separately from fourth grade through high school and is the only school in North Atlanta to offer gender specific education.
Exemplary Faculty
Our dedicated, motivated, and highly qualified teachers all meet state and SACS requirements and many have advanced degrees, including doctorates.
Exceptional Academics
Pinecrest students rank in the top 10% of all schools nationally (public and private) on standardized achievement tests (SAT 10) as recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Class Size
With an average class size of 20 students, teachers are able to ensure individual attention to every student.
Enrollment
Over 900 students in Pre-K through twelfth grade, with the first graduating class in 2007.
